Giovanni Carmine arbeitete als freier Kurator und Kunstkritiker und initiierte unter anderen die temporäre Ausstellung Unloaded (2002) in ehemaligen Bunkern der Schweizer Armee. 2011 war er künstlerischer Koordinator für ILLUMInations, die 54. Kunstbiennale von Venedig, 2013 kuratierte er Valentin Carrons Ausstellung im Schweizer Pavillon der Biennale in Venedig. 2007 wurde Giovanni Carmine zum Direktor der Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen ernannt. Seitdem hat er dort sowohl mit Schweizer als auch internationalen KünstlerInnen, wie zum Beispiel Ryan Gander, Mai-Thu Perret, Gedi Sibony, Loris Gréaud, Shahryar Nashat, Matias Faldbakken und Navid Nuur Ausstellungen realisiert.
Giovanni Carmine è un curatore indipendente e critico d’arte, ha avviato tra le altre cose la mostra temporanea Unloaded (2002) negli ex bunker dell’esercito svizzero. Nel 2011 è stato coordinatore artistico di ILLUMInations, la 54. Biennale d’arte di Venezia, nel 2013 ha curato la mostra di Valentin Carron nel Padiglione svizzero della Biennale di Venezia. Nel 2007 Giovanni Carmine è stato nominato direttore della Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen. Da allora ha realizzato mostre dedicate ad artisti svizzeri e internazionali, come ad esempio Ryan Gander, Mai-Thu Perret, Gedi Sibony, Loris Gréaud, Shahryar Nashat, Matias Faldbakken e Navid Nuur.
Giovanni Carmine works as a freelance curator and art critic, and initiated, among other shows, the temporary exhibition Unloaded (2002) in former bunkers used by the Swiss army. In 2011 he was the artistic co-ordinator for ILLUMInations, the 54th Venice Biennale, while in 2013 he curated Valentin Carron’s exhibition in the Swiss Pavilion at the 55th Biennale. In 2007 Giovanni Carmine was appointed Director of the Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen. Since then he has staged exhibitions there both with Swiss and with international artists, including Ryan Gander, Mai-Thu Perret, Gedi Sibony, Loris Gréaud, Shahryar Nashat, Matias Faldbakken and Navid Nuur.
